Ellie's new pacifier

Ellie is 5 weeks old!

She likes to eat, sleep and be held. She loves to be wrapped up as snug as a bug. She will sleep in her car seat once we bring her in from outside because she is so snug. We purchased this new pacifier with a little lamb attached. She hopefully will get used to it and learn how to put it back in her mouth when it falls out. That little animal gives her something to hold. Plus, it makes the pacifier cuter!

High Five for positive appointment

Today we went to see Dr. Rio's at Children's Heart Clinic. Ellie weighed 8 lbs & 2 oz. She was 21 inches tall. They took both her upper and lower blood pressures and they were in range. Her oxygen level was 100% and her pulse was good. We are able to lower her lasiks to once per day with it ending in 7 days. Once her antacid medicine ends we are done with that unless she shows signs that she needs it still. She will stay on the blood pressure medicine for a few more weeks. They will reevaluate that at her next appointment which is Monday, May 16th. That day they will do a full work up. EKG, Echo and whatever else.

When we left Robert and I gave each other a high five as we both were very happy that Ellie is basically a baby with a clean bill of health! We still have to be careful holding her so we don't bother her chest bone as that is still healing for another 3 weeks.

Ellie is 4 weeks old already!

Our little Ellie belly has been through a lot in her short little life. Three weeks ago Ellie was diagnosed with two congenital heart defects - interrupted aortic artery and VSD. It all happened on day 7, that day our hearts shattered as we watched our little Ellie get taken out of the ER on a stretcher and put on a helicopter headed for Children's Hospital.
