Hadley with Daddy after a long morning. This morning we were up at 5 a.m. Hadley woke because of a horrible cough she has. She started a cold on Sunday evening.
Sunday:We knew something was wrong because she didn't want to take a bath. She screamed while in the bath so we took her out. She needed to be comforted to sleep. Once asleep she slept through until 5 a.m or so and we brought into bed with us.
Monday:She woke up Monday at 7 :40 a.m. or so with a runny nose. We figured out she had a little cold, as well as she was getting a tooth. It was her top right. It broke through. That morning she had crusty boogers all over her nose and top lips & drooled endlessly. That day she was okay, she needed to take a tiny nap in the morning and ended up taking a late afternoon nap. Grandma had to lay down with her in bed to get her to fall asleep. She continued to drool all day, we had to change her shirt three times. That evening we had spaghetti for dinner and played. Again, bath time was difficult, so I jumped into the tub with her, that helped her a little. After bath we did our routine and she went to bed pretty easy. She had a little stir about an hour after falling asleep and needed comforting. But, at 9 p.m. she was out for the night and slept through the night.
Tuesday:She woke up around 7:45 a.m. She was a little irritable that morning. She wanted to get into everything. After breakfast and playing at around 10:45 a.m. she fell asleep in my arms wrapped in her blanket. She took a quick nap because the phone rang at 11 a.m. and woke her up. We played a little more and had lunch. She ate her food. She still had a runny nose but it wasn't as bad and her drool slowed a little. After lunch she went down for her nap at 12:50 p.m. and slept until 3 p.m. She started a little cough. The evening went well, she played, danced, took a bath and went to bed at 8 p.m.
Wednesday:That brings us to today. This morning she woke at 4:45 a.m. because of her cough. It was nasty. I tried the saline spray and some tylenol but she continued to cough. So we thought we would just get up and get some hot water and do a steam bath. We sat in the bathroom for around 10 minutes breathing in the steam. Not sure if this helped but it couldn't hurt. Then we just decided to stay awake. I made Hadley an egg and toast. She had some oranges. She drank some warm milk. Then we played. Daddy got up at 7 a.m. and at this point we had been up for two hours. A little after 7 a.m. I jumped in the shower and when I got out Hadley was asleep on her Daddy. It was so cute. Robert said she wanted to play in the food cupboard and he said no, so she got a little mad and he brought her over to the couch. He cuddled her up in her blanket and then played music on her new puppy Violet. She was out, I quickly got dressed and took and put her down in bed at 7:40 a.m. She still is coughing but she is still sleeping.
We will keep our fingers crossed that this cough goes away soon. We will keep the humidifiers going as well as try another steam bath later today. I am going to go to the drug store to see if there are any items to give a one year old for their cough.
But, thank goodness she is sleeping now.
